Holding Hands

What is an End of Life Doula?

As a certified End of Life Doula I work collaboratively with you and your family during a loved one's dying process. An EOLD is a compassionate, helpful partner in this journey to make the transition as easy and comforting as possible.

Death doula services

I can serve as an advocate for the client, help with end of life planning, help organize a vigil, assist the family in planning memorial or related services, provide referrals for many related services and practitioners, and also help facilitate effective communication so that a client's last wishes are honored and they are as comfortable as possible.  I can also serve as a mediator between family members and help the family understand what their medical professionals are explaining.  My formal education in the life sciences is especially helpful to families in understanding recommendations of their medical team.

End of Life Doula services from an ordained reverend

As an ordained Reverend, I can also attend to the spiritual needs of a client or family if desired, but services do not include a spiritual component unless specified by the client or family.

Together we can customize a package that may include vigil planning, patient advocacy, respite care, resource referrals, memorial service planning, family mediation, spiritual services, gathering needed research or information, etc.

Note that funerals cannot be administered by doulas, but I can help with communication to the funeral home if needed.
